Dear Friends and Partners,
The last night of New Life Camp during our prayer service, we opened the alter for the children to come forward to be prayed over, and a young boy came up and sat next to me, silently. He had a distant, troubled look on his face, but stayed quiet when I asked how I could pray for him. Calling over one of my teammates, Gracie, to help translate, I gently asked him again how I could pray for him. As the words left Gracie’s lips, tears started streaming down the little boy’s face as he explained in a rush the nightmares that haunted him after watching his mama die, how he missed her, and how he could not sleep at night. Instantly, I wrapped my arms around him and held him close as we prayed over him. As we prayed, his trembling stopped. Drying his tears, I gave him one last hug. He smiled, and returned to his seat. Later that night, as a room of over 200 people sang and worshipped the Lord, my gaze fell to that little boy snuggled in his chair, sleeping soundly and peacefully amidst the noise. It was my turn to let the tears fall, thanking my father in heaven for answered prayer as I listened to those around me sing these words by Chris Rice…
“…We are a family whose hearts are blazing
So let's raise our candles and light up the sky
Praying to our Father, in the name of Jesus
Make us a beacon in darkest times
Carry your candle, run to the darkness
Seek out the helpless, deceived and poor
Hold out your candle for all to see it
Take your candle, and go light your world…”
How fitting these words are. As part of their mission to end child sex slavery through prevention, Remember Nhu works with churches and individuals like you to bring healing, hope, and salvation to over 1,600 vulnerable children like the boy above in 117 homes across 16 countries. In addition to meeting the physical, educational, and emotional needs of these children, Remember Nhu seeks to provide for their spiritual needs by sharing the love of Jesus through New Life Camps and the New Life Discipleship Program. Culturally tailored, three-day New Life Camps combine the fun and interactive activities of summer camp with Bible lessons and times of worship and prayer. The New Life Development Program follows up the New Life Camp as a way for children to grow deeper in their knowledge of Jesus.
As a member of the Remember Nhu Spiritual Development Team, it is a privilege to carry my candle across the globe to help develop, coordinate, and oversee both these programs. Thank you for your prayers and support over the years to help me bring the light of Jesus to others near and far. If the story above touches your heart, or if the ministry of Remember Nhu ignites a passion inside you to act, I ask you to join me again as I work to help end child sex slavery and bring the hope and freedom of salvation in Christ Jesus to the least of these. Thank you so much for coming alongside me! May the Lord bless you! Please join me in praying for the children in our care, the house parents who watch over them, and my team and me who work and travel to minister to them. If you or your church would like to know more about me or my work, please reach out to me through one of the methods below. I would love to share with you! Pray the Lord would also provide for my financial needs so I may follow his calling.
